I cannot sign-in which showing 'Not enrolled in Duo' or 'Enter your bypass code' when incomplete Duo 2FA registration.

Solution

When accessing MyCUHK, CUPIS and other applications*, the above message will be prompted if you haven't enrolled your account to DUO 2-factor authentication (2FA) or encountering Enter your bypass code when Duo 2FA registration is not completed. To solve the issue, simply enroll your account to 2FA and try access these applications again.

Try this quick solution first!

  1. Visit https://duo.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/ using any web browser.
  2. After signed-in, click LOG OUT button - doing so will clear incomplete registration records and may allow you to start over again.
  3. Close ALL browser windows.
  4. Visit https://duo.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/ and sign-in again.
  5. If you see a green Start setup button, follow Enroll to 2FA and Register Your First Mobile Device (start from Step 3). Otherwise, follow the rest of this knowledge article for resolution.
